Mark = I was a student at Jesus College, Oxford, many years ago! I am American –and was an early woman there. I actually ended dropping out after a year – I had my U.S. degree and got quite sick (physically) and home sick too. But it was so fun for me to see that you are there! I am sure it is very different now. (This was a very long time ago.)

I strongly recommend Lagavulin cask strength.

    • Hmmm… I love Lagavulin for sure! But on cask strengths… that Aberlour A’bunnadh was a complete discovery… although not as peaty and complex I can guess.

Love the title of your blog! Although I happen to agree that, while wonderful separately, together they aren’t pleasant at all!

We both know I’ll be back…

  11. Tonight was a Bruichladdich night… the last dram!

    • Mark says:

Oh, I’m jealous, hah. I have not given enough attention to my whisky lately. Might crack into a Chivas Regal…

      • … If you are going for a blended, Chivas is absolutely ok, but if I was you I’d try to find a bottle of Cutty Sark Emerald. It’ s been ages since I found that… but I remember it’s one that brings out a memory of a nice surprise and the unavoidable question “c’mon… r ye sure this is Cutty Sark’s?”

btw…. talking abt emerald bottles… happy St. Padraigh’s!

There is no specific place for this comment, but I would just like to compliment you on your choice of quote for your page subtitle! It’s an amazing book 🙂

    • Mark says:

Yes it is! I wrote a bad review of it somewhere on my blog, but it definitely left an impression on me. Plus, I think the quote is so true haha!

  20. I don’t like whiskey. But I do like tea.

I have very few opinions on politics outside the U.S. (due to lack of knowledge, not because I don’t care), but hopefully your blog will enlighten me to some of the political/electoral dynamics in the UK.
